Noel Gallagher has offered a candid look at what fans can expect from the Live ‘25 Oasis reunion tour, assuring that things will be far more subdued than the chaotic performances of the Britpop era. With both Noel and his brother Liam now in their fifties, he explained that the days of wild antics are behind them.
Speaking at the National Portrait Gallery during the launch of Zoe Law’s Legends exhibition, Noel shared a bit of the Gallagher family’s characteristic irreverence: “People get f***ing shot up the road and she still leaves the door open,” he said, referencing his mother, Peggy, and her unflappable nature.
Reflecting on the band’s notorious past, including their infamous Wembley gig in 2000, which many fans remember as a “low point” due to Liam’s on-stage antics and off-key lyrics, Noel noted that both brothers have moved on from that wild phase.
“It won’t be as raucous as back in the day, because we’re on the wrong side of 50 now, so we’re too old,” Noel said. “We’re too old to give a s**t now, so there won’t be any fallouts, there won’t be any fighting. It’s a lap of honour for the band.”
As for their mum Peggy, Noel revealed that she wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the reunion news. “My mum couldn’t give a s**t. My mum never gave a s**t, never. You know what Irish mums are like. When we told her we were getting back together, she said, ‘Sure, that will be nice.’ That was it.”
Despite this, the brothers are now hoping to convince their 81-year-old mum to attend one of the Dublin shows next August. It’s unclear whether she’ll make it, but the rest of the world will no doubt be waiting in anticipation for the return of Oasis.
