A new visual chapter in the Oasis story has arrived. Oasis: The Masterplan, the latest book by legendary photographer Kevin Cummins, was published on March 27 and takes fans back to the earliest days of the band — before the legend, before Definitely Maybe, before it all took off.
The book features 75% previously unseen images, captured during the crucial period in 1993–94 when Oasis were shaping their sound, identity, and look. Cummins, already a celebrated name for his work with Joy Division, The Smiths, and countless others, was brought in to help give Oasis a visual presence to match their sound. The result? Some of the most iconic images of the band ever taken — and many more now revealed for the first time.

As Miranda Sawyer put it in The Observer:
“Cummins, typical Manc, combining art with a good time, a sense of beauty, which explains the iconic shots of Liam and Noel in Man City shirts: memorable, defining images.”
The book includes reflections from Noel Gallagher himself on music, fashion, football, and those formative days. It offers a rare glimpse into how the band were introduced to the world, learning how to pose, how to present themselves, and how to own their image as the release of Definitely Maybe approached.
Noel writes:
“This book really brings those early years back to me. Kevin’s photographs captured us at the very beginning. This is a must-have book for every Oasis fan.”
Paul Morley calls Cummins:
“An iconic photographer, adventurous fan and inside eye-witness… [who] has always been where the cultural action is.”
In a new interview for the book, Noel also reflects on the frenzy surrounding the reunion shows, admitting he was surprised by just how quickly tickets sold out — a reminder of just how far the masterplan has taken them.
This isn’t just another photo book — it’s a time capsule. For those who want to see Oasis right before they became Oasis, this is essential. Kevin Cummins didn’t just shoot the band — he helped define how we remember them.
