In a perfect blend of wedding celebration and musical nostalgia, Robyn Hixon and her bridesmaids recreated the iconic cover of Oasis’ “Some Might Say” single during her English wedding celebrations. Robyn, 38, originally from Derbyshire but now living in Perth, Australia, shares her lifelong love for the indie music scene, particularly Oasis, with her large family of seven siblings. Growing up near Manchester, she and her sister spent many weekends attending gigs, which cemented their deep connection to Oasis.
Their first Oasis concert was at the City of Manchester Stadium, followed by a few more at Heaton Park. Robyn and her siblings are all die-hard fans, having also attended Noel and Liam Gallagher’s solo gigs. So, it was only fitting that Oasis would play a part in her wedding celebrations.
The Wedding and Iconic Tribute
The opportunity came when Robyn returned to the UK for a second wedding celebration with her English friends and family. Though she had already celebrated her wedding in Australia, her close friends Tim and Ryan, owners of The Waiting Room Holiday Cottage, hosted her bridal party the night before her English wedding. One of her bridesmaids, Joey Hall, came up with the brilliant idea of recreating the Some Might Say cover, and Robyn immediately agreed.
With the help of Joey, the group gathered props for the photoshoot. Although they didn’t have a sink full of fish, they made do with creative substitutes, including Abi’s dog Leia and a handmade sign. The scene was set in the charming countryside, where Robyn and her bridesmaids, decked out in their wedding attire, posed for the memorable shot. Lucy Heath, a close friend and professional photographer, captured the scene perfectly.
Robyn shared, “We all absolutely love Oasis, and many of their songs bond us as friends and family. Recreating one of their most iconic moments was a perfect memory for us.”
In an almost surreal twist of fate, the photo was taken just a month before Oasis announced their reunion, sparking excitement within the group. Robyn joked that “Some Might Say” they manifested the reunion themselves, given the timing of their recreation on July 20, 2024.
While some members of their wedding party managed to secure tickets to the reunion, Robyn is still hoping to get tickets for all her bridesmaids. “I got mine in the presale, very luckily. I’ve told the girls that if we can all get tickets by July 11th, I’ll wear my wedding dress to the gig – it’ll be our special Oasis day!”
Robyn’s husband, Tommy Hixon, who added the Oasis logo to their wedding photos, was instrumental in bringing the whole tribute together. “He let me not only have two weddings but also allowed my brother to have his ticket,” she said.
Robyn’s story is one of passion, music, and the magic of friendship, and we absolutely love it
