Whispers of an Oasis reunion are nothing new in Manchester’s music scene, but recent days have seen speculation skyrocket. Liam Gallagher has fueled these rumors, hinting on social media that a big announcement might be imminent. He teased fans with cryptic messages, saying he’d see them “down the front” and urged them to “enjoy” each day, suggesting something significant is on the horizon.
The Gallagher brothers, who formed the iconic Britpop band in the 1990s and split in 2009 after a notorious backstage brawl in Paris, have often been at the center of reunion rumors. However, this time, the Manchester Evening News reports that a reunion could be closer than ever. Discussions are reportedly underway for a series of gigs next summer, including several nights at Manchester’s Heaton Park and a potential ten-night run at Wembley. An official announcement is expected within days, with ticket prices rumored to start above £100.
Additionally, there are talks of a Glastonbury headline slot if the reunion materializes. While insiders suggest an announcement could come as soon as next week, they caution that nothing is certain until confirmed.
This news comes as Oasis’ debut album Definitely Maybe approaches its 30th anniversary. In a recent interview, Noel Gallagher praised Liam’s vocal style, likening it to “a shot of tequila” compared to his own “half a Guinness on a Tuesday.” Earlier this month, Liam’s son, Gene, hinted that his father might be eager for a reunion.
Next year also marks the 30th anniversary of Oasis’s second album, What’s the Story (Morning Glory), with Liam previously hinting at a possible tour featuring the entire album after the success of the Definitely Maybe tour.
