On January 12, 1998, Oasis released “All Around

On January 12, 1998, Oasis released “All Around The World” as the third single from their album Be Here Now. Clocking in at 9 minutes and 38 seconds, it became the longest track to top the UK Singles Chart.

Noel Gallagher penned the song in the early ‘90s, envisioning a grand production that the band’s initial budgets couldn’t accommodate. He remarked, “It was a matter of being able to afford to record it. But now we can get away with the 36-piece orchestra.”

The single’s B-sides included “The Fame,” “Flashbax,” and a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Street Fighting Man.”

The accompanying music video, directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, features the band in a vibrant, animated journey through space, aligning with the song’s expansive feel.
